Kris Kristofferson – Captain: 1964
It’s not every day that you see an accomplished athlete and boxer who is equally passionate about academia, but country music legend Kris Kristofferson is nothing if not unique. First, he studied literature at Pomona College in California. Then, he became a Rhodes Scholar and continued his studies at Merton College in Oxford before joining the U.S. Army.
Interestingly, he formed his band while stationed in Germany. Kristofferson left the Army, much to the dismay of his family, and moved to Nashville, focusing on his music. In 2021, news of his retirement flooded the internet. But to reiterate his manager’s words, Kristofferson’s music isn’t going anywhere.
