Had the kind man not intervened, who knows what would have happened to Robert at the restaurant. Things had already escalated to such extreme lengths, and no one was taking a step forward to stop the bullies in their tracks.
Maybe this would have been the straw that broke the camel’s back, and Robert would have been forced to retaliate, further escalating the situation. We are glad that the man stepped in when he did; otherwise, we don’t want to imagine all the scenarios that would have unfolded had he not done anything. It’s nice to see such people still exist.
