It was pretty evident that people had a hard time looking Robert’s way when he was being bullied compared to when they received their smashed burger. It might sound like a clear-cut situation where people should have stood up for the boy and had their burgers replaced simultaneously, but things aren’t so simple.
The poor response rate to Robert’s plight wasn’t ideal, and something had to change. People were aware of bullying, but they weren’t ready to stand up for the victims whenever it happened in their presence. So a new approach to handling this situation had to be crafted and fast.
