Without beating around the bush, the man asked the bullies why they were picking on Robert. Unfortunately, the teens hadn’t factored in something like this happening, so they had no way to react or confidently talk back to the man before them.
One of the teens insisted they were playing, but his tone was softer, and his head was bent facing down. The man had rained on their parade, and they were uncomfortable by the exchange. This confrontation was new to the bullies, and it seemed like his presence was more than enough to deter them from their nasty actions.
