Our hero asked the boys why they stood by and watched their friend bullying Robert without raising a concern or protesting. Maybe the boys were in on the ‘fun,’ and they enjoyed watching their friend hurt someone else in their presence.
The two boys were embarrassed and quickly let the man know they didn’t have those sentiments with a resounding, “No sir!” Once the guy was satisfied that he had gotten through to the bullies, he turned to Robert to check on him. He even went as far as offering him some company as he took his lunch, but he wasn’t done with the bullies.
