Mary Quant – Age 92
It’s almost impossible to tell the story of British fashion without referring to Dame Mary Quant. Arguably one of the world’s most influential clothing designers, she changed the London landscape in the ’60s by introducing the miniskirt and the extremely short shorts to the general public. She was a central figure of the Mod teen culture that ruled the United Kingdom during much of the ’60s.
Appointed Dame in the 2015 New Year Honours, Quant is an unmistakable British living legend. Oh, and did you know she’s one of the high-profile personalities featured on the cover of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” by “The Beatles”?
