“…And I’m All Out of Bubblegum” – Roddy Piper As Nada in They Live
The 1988 horror flick “They Live” is yet another cult movie produced by the great John Carpenter, but he has the leading actor Roddy Piper to thank for one of the production’s best-known quotes. In one of the final scenes, Piper’s character ‘Nada’ was supposed to deliver a heroic pre-killing line and was given complete creative control.
What he came up with went on to become a classic cinema quote. Entering a bank with a machine gun, Piper confidently says, “I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick *ss. And I’m all out of bubblegum.” Weird? Sure. An unforgettable Hollywood moment? Of course!
