It’s one of the best-known scenes in all of Meg Ryan’s body of work. In “When Harry Met Sally…,” she daringly pretends to be climaxing while at a coffeehouse, and the whole thing makes for a hilariously cringy moment of cinema. But in the end, awkwardness turns to laughs when an extra says, “I’ll have what she’s having.”
The line was so good that it was ranked 33rd in American Film Institute’s ‘100 greatest movie quotes of all time.’ But it wasn’t part of the script. Remarkably, it was invented on the spot by Estelle Reiner, the mother of the movie’s director Rob Reiner, who served as a coffeehouse extra.
