Here’s Why Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and 42 Other Celebrities Were Banned From These Countries
Oasis – China
Oasis, a British rock band, was prohibited from playing in China in 2009 by the country’s authorities because of their involvement with the controversial “Free Tibet” movement. Mainly, Noel Gallagher, one of the band’s original members, had participated in a Free Tibet Concert in 1997, which China considers a severe offense.
Noel, the vocalist of “Flying on the Ground,” claimed he took the stage at the event since no one else in the band was willing to do so. He received a lifetime ban as a result. The Chinese government also stopped the sale of tickets and ordered the reimbursement of those already purchased.
