Hayden Panettiere – Japan
Hayden Panettiere, the star of the television series Heroes, is a passionate supporter of dolphins and whales. She went to Japan in 2007 to save dolphins, but she returned with a warrant for her arrest. The cause? She and five other activists tried using their bodies to obstruct Japanese dolphin hunters by standing on a surfboard.
Following this contact, Panettiere and her friends were the subjects of an arrest warrant in Japan for “breaching international commerce.” Even though they didn’t ban her per se, she is no longer welcome in the country. Many westerners applauded her efforts, but she presumably learned that being a real-life hero isn’t always as straightforward.
