Journalism Fails: Some Instances Where TV Anchors Made the Headlines for More Than Their Work

Birds Deserve Some Air Time Too

Ask any Aussie who Peter Hitchener is, and they’ll happily mention the TV shows and news programs he’s anchored since 1965. But thanks to a curious seagull, in 2009, his fame spread beyond Australian borders. The bird walked past a live projection of the city of Melbourne.

Although Hitchener noticed it, he ignored it because he was reporting on a cold murder case. However, it only took the bird three seconds to get bored with the cameo appearance and fly away. Thanks to the projector, the seagull appeared larger and left viewers amused. Humans aren’t the only ones who love overshadowing a reporter on duty.
