Denzel Washington – Glory

As an icon of American cinema, Denzel Washington has starred in over 60 film and TV projects since his debut in 1977. The two-time Academy Award winner is perhaps best known for playing a dirty cop in “Training Day” (2001), but it was during the ’80s that the Mount Vernon, New York native began to make a name for himself.

In 1989, Washington seemingly struck gold when he was cast as Private Trip, starring alongside Matthew Broderick in “Glory,” a film portraying the struggle between the Union Army and the Confederates during the U.S. Civil War. In 2021, Washington went back to playing powerful roles as Lord Macbeth in “Tragedy of Macbeth.”
