Once one of Hollywood’s greatest stars, Mel Gibson’s fame and celebrity status skyrocketed after “The Passion Of The Christ.” The cult classic became the highest-grossing independent film with $612 million in earnings worldwide via ticket sales and has pushed Gibson’s total box office sales beyond the already impressive $3.6 billion figure.
Despite the reluctance from film studios to directly cast Gibson in their upcoming projects, the “Braveheart” actor has still soldiered on in the industry nonetheless. In 2021, he was back in hero mode as he joined an ensemble cast in New Mexico to begin filming “Hot Seat” under “Fortress” director James Cullen Bressack.
