“I’m Sarah Evans,” she replied, her voice unwavering. “I knew your father. I knew Richard Montgomery.” Michael’s skepticism mirrored the butler’s expression from earlier. “Why should I believe you?” he challenged.
Sarah reached into her bag and pulled out the letter that had brought her here. “Your father left this for me,” she said, trembling with hope and disbelief. “He acknowledged the truth, the pain he caused, and wanted to make things right.”
