Our Beautiful Britons Are Still Valid As Ever

Maggie Smith

Dame Maggie Smith was born in Ilford in December 1934. She started her acting career with Oxford Playhouse in 1952. With a string of popular roles on her resume, she rose to international fame with “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” in 1969 and won an Academy Award for her performance.

However,  she’s most celebrated for her role in JK Rowling’s “Harry Potter” films as Professor Minerva McGonagall. The twice-married actress, despite being diagnosed with breast cancer, continues to act to this day. The recent buzz is that she returns with the “Downtown Abbey” sequel.
