The 45 Greatest Songs of All Time That Sparked A Cultural Reset

Tiny Dancer, Elton John, 1972, Soft rock/Country

The music industry is hard to imagine without the legacy of Sir Elton John. One of his masterpieces was the 1972 hit “Tiny Dancer.” The message of the song was inspired by songwriter Bernie Taupin’s first visit to the United States where he wanted to express his perception of California and how it differed from his home country, England.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Taupin further explained that the song is also about his former wife, Maxine Feibelman. It was originally released on John’s 1971 album but later on, was released the year after. “Tiny Dancer” achieved certified 3x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
