The 45 Greatest Songs of All Time That Sparked A Cultural Reset

Crazy in Love, Beyoncé feat. Jay-Z, 2003, Pop/Hip-hop/R&B

When Beyoncé was conceptualizing the release of her debut album in 2003, she sought brilliance from other musicians. As such, she called songwriter and producer Rich Harrison, who already had the beat of “Crazy in Love” and was waiting for the right artist to record it.

When he first played the sample to Beyoncé, she told him to compose the lyrics while she was out, and in two hours, Harrison came up with the lyrics of what became a best-selling hit in the 2000s. Beyoncé wrote the bridge part, and Jay-Z recorded a rap verse in about ten minutes. “Crazy in Love” dominated worldwide charts and was named the greatest song of the decade.
