Inspired by Bob Seger’s performance, he thought of creating a song that sounds like a Seger-like ballad. He released a song about love, trust, God, and purple rain with his backing band, the Revolution.
According to NME, Prince referred to “Purple Rain” as a combination of the color red and blue in the sky, which signifies the end of the world. It points to the wisdom that the end meant we would be with our loved ones and our faith will guide us through it.
