The 45 Greatest Songs of All Time That Sparked A Cultural Reset
Gasolina, Daddy Yankee, 2004, Reggaeton
Before the reggaeton genre dominated the music industry, we have to give credit to Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee who coined the term reggaeton and introduced how it sounds. One of his pioneering hits to this is the 2004 song “Gasolina,” which immediately received commercial and critical success following its release.
The song became the first reggaeton song to land a nomination for the Latin Grammy Award for Record of the Year. It achieved worldwide success and entered international charts, including in Puerto Rico, Canada, Europe, the United States, and the Caribbean. Since then, Daddy Yankee has become one of the best-selling Latino music icons.
