Harry Belafonte – Age 94
Harry Belafonte is mainly why Trinidadian Caribbean music became famous, and people refer to him as the King of Calypso. His 1956 album titled ‘Calypso’ turned him into a star, and it was the first time one artist released an LP that sold at least a million copies.
He also built an acting portfolio, appearing in movies like ‘Island in the Sun’ and ‘Carmen Jones.’ During the ’50s and ’60s, Belafonte was good friends with Martin Luther King, and he supported the Civil Rights Movement. He appeared in a documentary in 2020 called ‘The Sit-In: Harry Belafonte hosts the Tonight Show.’
