Now, this is a speech you’ve probably heard or read about in history textbooks at least once in your life. Delivered by Martin Luther King Jr. during the March on Washington in 1963, his famous “I Have A Dream” speech is still considered one of the civil rights era’s most defining moments.
In it, King took on the tone of a preacher and told the crowd of 250,000 people at the Lincoln Memorial about his dream of equality before ending with the spiritual: “Free at last, free at last!” According to Britannica, the speech was instrumental in the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
