In 2000, Tina Turner announced that she was formally retiring in front of over 70,000 people in Switzerland. Since then, the Queen of Rock n’ Roll has largely avoided the spotlight until this March 2021, when her HBO documentary Tina was released. Despite maintaining a massive following in her home country of the United States, she relinquished her citizenship and opted to be a Swiss citizen.
The singer, who also appeared in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, was also a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Even though her career was in full swing, her relationship with Ike Turner also made the headlines back in the day.
