These Rare Photos Reveal the Secrets of Titanic’s Tragic Voyage
A Timely Policy
Most of the casualties from the sinking of the Titanic were men, including some crew members who could not be rescued. Surprisingly, many third-class passengers also lost their lives. However, the “women and children first” policy was upheld, with most first-class women being saved and all second-class children rescued. This photo shows the final lifeboat used to transport survivors away from the doomed ship.
It’s fascinating to note that some survivors of the Titanic went on to survive the sinking of its sister ship, the HMHS Britannic, including Arthur John Priest and Violet Jessop. They showed remarkable resilience and courage in the face of unimaginable adversity.
