He was working at Manny’s Music Shop in Manhattan during the mid-’60s when Allen Baxter got to know a budding musician, Jimi Hendrix. For a brief period that year, Hendrix spearheaded the band Jimmy James and the Blue Flames, which included him and another Manny’s employee named Randy California.

However, by 2022, the seasoned guitarist with eight studio albums to his credit had become widely regarded as one of the top counterterrorism experts. Impressively self-taught, authorities and defense contractors greatly benefited from Baxter’s knowledge in the field. He was even appointed to the NASA Exploration Systems Advisory Committee in 2005 in recognition of his brilliance.
