At 74 years old, Gene Hackman decided to retire in 2004 after spending more than four decades in showbiz. Ever since, he’s been working hard as a novelist, his passion from his acting days.

In addition to the three manuscripts he co-wrote with Daniel Lenihan, Hackman additionally wrote two other books. In 1999, when he was still an actor, he and Lenihan published their first book, “Wake of the Perdido Star.” Hackman continued writing novels, finishing with “Pursuit” in 2013.
