Grand Theft Auto III: A Sprawling, Luscious Epic
Grand Theft Auto III, created by DMA Design and published by Rockstar Games, was delayed after the 9/11 attacks because the team needed to change certain references and gameplay elements. Eventually, Grand Theft Auto III was released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2.
The game then made its way to Windows in 2002 and later to Xbox in 2003. It became the best-selling video game of 2001. It had sold over 14.5 million copies by March 2008. At the end of the year, it received many “Game of the Year” honors from different gaming publications.
