Jasper Carrott – Age 77
The early ’70s would probably not have been the same without Jasper Carrot shaking up the British entertainment scene. Born Robert Norman Davis, Carrot took on a new moniker to further his career as a singer, actor, and television presenter. Years later, he also added the title of comedian to the mix.
Some might ask, “What’s in a name?” But we know better because when the name Carrot comes up, it’s in conversations about his folk club “The Boggery” and his first television series, “An Audience with Jasper Carrot,” which premiered in 1978. Though his singing years appear behind him, he’s still known to tell a joke or two.
