Lena Dunham and Ingrid

Lena Dunham, the multi-hyphenated millennial, adopted her dog Henni Grem from A Purposeful Rescue, a Los Angeles-based organization that rescues senior, wounded, and sick dogs from high-kill shelters. Henni, dubbed a “gremmicorn” or gremlin-unicorn because of her unique look on Instagram, was renamed Ingrid.
In 2017, Dunham relinquished her rescue dog Lamby to the Zen Dog canine rehabilitation center, claiming the dog had behavioral difficulties due to childhood abuse. Then, Dunham’s Sphynx cat and Yorkie died within a few months of each other the following year, prompting some to question if she should own pets in the first place.
