So, how did Dolly Parton become one of the world’s most beloved celebrities? There are two theories. One of them is about her musical talent. As a singer and a songwriter, she sits at the round table with country music’s kings. We didn’t even know that she could play 20 instruments, from the fiddle to the pan-flute, or that she has written an estimated 3,000 songs.
The other theory is Dolly as a symbol of U.S. excess, but that has changed. She has been hailed as a leading feminist, and, last month, she donated $1m to Moderna’s successful effort to develop a vaccine.
