The Start of Something New

To Rebecca, those early moments of getting to know Steve felt like the start of a slow-burn romance. They spoke on the phone for hours before finally saying goodnight around 2am in the morning. It took her back to her teenage years and the butterflies in her stomach the first time she spoke to her crush.

On their first date two days later, Rebecca showed up in an outfit she’d picked out of her mom’s closet. Steve showed up wearing his police uniform. Between that and his imposing size, Rebecca felt a little intimidated. It also didn’t help that he had a large beard and was covered in tattoos.
