In the film “Swimming Pool,” Ludivine Sagnier’s appearance in a black-and-white chevron-patterned bikini is a standout moment. The film revolves around British crime novelist Sarah Morton, who retreats to her publisher’s French country house for solitude, only to have her peace disrupted by his daughter Julie’s arrival.
During this scene, Julie’s relaxed demeanor by the pool contrasts sharply with the film’s underlying psychological tension. Interestingly, the pool scenes were meticulously crafted to reflect the characters’ evolving dynamics. Director François Ozon used the pool as a metaphor for the characters’ submerged emotions.
