In 2020, the world’s highest-paid celebrities raked in a combined $6.1 billion, despite travel restrictions and social distancing measures in place that had apparently crippled the world of showbiz. While it takes a lot to make it in Tinseltown, some of our favorite stars have used their god-given talents of singing, acting, or performing to dominate the stage.
Despite having a slow year in front of the camera lens, what sets these modern-day celebrities apart is their ability to leverage their newfound fame into successful business and entrepreneurial ventures to make big bucks behind the screen. Here’s a closer look at how Hollywood’s A-listers make and spend their millions.
Elon Musk – $184 Billion

After his recent pledge to forego almost all of his lavish possessions, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk proceeded to sell six of his mansions in California in 2020 before moving to Texas. Since then, the tech billionaire has reportedly taken up residence in a modest 400-square-foot rental home the size of a studio apartment.
Built by Las Vegas-based housing startup Boxabl, Musk’s current abode is a foldable, prefabricated home that the company sells for $50k. If you’re in the market to buy a similar unit, you will be waiting for a long time since the company already has a waiting list of over 100K orders backed up!
