Why Flying on Private Jets Costs More Today Than Ever Before

The current cost of flying a private jet has increased exponentially in the post-Covid era. Due to the sudden pandemic outbreak, many countries imposed strict travel restrictions by closing their airspace for commercial airlines.

Ultimately, this leaves private jets as the only viable option available. This surge in demand pushed up prices significantly. According to surveys conducted by Private Jet Card Comparison, on average, flying a single-engine propeller aircraft costs $1,500 per hour.

On the other hand, turbo-prop aircraft cost around $2,000 per hour. Additionally, chartering a long-range business jet can cost between $4,000 and $7,000 per hour, depending on flight duration.

As the Demand for Private Jets Skyrockets, So Does the Cost That Comes With It!

Airlines are also increasing their prices due to the rising cost of fuel, insurance, and ground handling. Moreover, many jets do not have enough crew members, resulting in higher costs for passengers as airlines pass on these extra charges while renting out a private jet.

Thus, the cost of flying a private jet has increased by almost 40% since February 2020. However, some experts predicted that once things return back to normal, the prices may come down significantly. On the contrary, things are not going in favor of these private jet fliers–the cost continues to skyrocket – and so does the demand for private jets.

Alternatives for Budget-Conscious Passengers

If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option, there are several alternatives to consider. One of the most popular options is booking fractional ownership. It allows you to purchase a portion of the aircraft and pay only for what you use when you need it.

Additionally, jet cards provide access and flexibility to those who do not own an entire plane. They give customers discounted rates that are much lower than normal charter flights. Finding empty-leg flights can also be beneficial as these flights are cheaper than hiring a private jet from scratch.

However, they require travelers to have flexible travel plans as these flights may not follow the same paths as their desired destinations.

Parting Thoughts

The cost of flying private jets has taken off in the post-Covid era. However, these private jet fliers do not want to return back to commercial airlines. Rightly so! These flights are time-consuming.

But they can not stick with the same private flight either. Why? Well, simply because the cost of flying a private jet is skyrocketing. So, the demand for private jets remains higher than ever before – and so does the cost that comes with it.

What could you do at this point? Well, as it turns out, travelers must consider all their options to find the right solution that fits their budget and travel needs. By doing so, they can enjoy flying with minimal disruption while also staying within their budget.
