Stamps may not seem to be the most fascinating things to collect nowadays but did you know that it’s a hobby that could earn you serious cash? Queen Elizabeth II, for one, has an impressive lineup whose worth is simply unfathomable.
Her Royal Majesty is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and a portion of it came from her stamps, which is why the collection marks one of her most crucial assets. It is one of her most interesting hobbies and now we understand that it’s quite lucrative.
Some of her stamps came from other monarchs but the nonagenarian has impressively collected quite valuable rare finds. The $124-million multitude, which is called the Royal Philatelic Collection, is dubbed the finest from all around the globe.

Queen Elizabeth’s love for her collection is so evident in the way she adorably shows it off to visitors in the Buckingham Palace. Some of the stamps are on display while others are understandably kept at St. James Palace.
Royal expert Phil Dampier shared that important guests such as heads of states get to see the vast collection of the monarch. One of the most expensive in the set is the Mauritian stamp, valued at $2 million, which the Queen brought in her 2002 tour to mark her Golden Jubilee.
What makes the collection more vital is the fact that Queen Elizabeth owns it and not her crown. To understand this, look at her other assets that will be inherited by her heir.
Throughout the years, the 94-year-old has sold some of the duplicates in her collection, a move that was said to have helped her purchase even rarer pieces. It can be remembered that she bought 10 Penny Blacks for a quarter of a million dollars in the past.
Those unique stamps were from 1840 and these were obviously a great addition to her already expansive set. While it’s undeniable that the Queen splurges on her collection, it is worth noting that she has been frugal as well in other things.
