Alan Alda – Gunnery Officer: Unknown Year
A six-time Emmy Award winner, Alan Alda is most famous for his role as Hawkeye Pierce in the war TV show, “M*A*S*H.” His acting was likely fueled by his own experiences in the military, joining the Army Reserve during the Korean War.
Alda joined the troops after graduating from Fordham University, where he studied English and Theater. However, as a gunnery officer, he only finished the minimum six-month tour of duty before getting discharged. In August 2021, Alda talked about why communication is crucial to science while on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”
