Clark Gable – Major: 1942
For actor Clark Gable, his means of dealing with the loss of his wife in a plane crash was to enlist in the Army Air Corps in 1942. Starting as a Private, he rose through the ranks to Major when he left active duty in 1944.
He was famous for his roles in films like “It Happened One Night” and “Gone with the Wind,” but movies after his service like “Adventure” and “Command Decision” brought even more fame. Even though he died in 1960, his status as one of Hollywood’s biggest male leads is undisputable.
