Robert Stack – Lieutenant: 1942
Coming from a family of military enthusiasts, Robert Stack served the U.S. Navy in 1942. When he was discharged as a Lieutenant in 1945, he received the World War II Victory Medal and four other awards. He played notable military roles in films like “Is Paris Burning?” and “Airplane!” His role in the TV series “The Untouchables” also won him a Primetime Emmy.
Stack voiced Ultra Magnus in “The Transformers: The Movie” and Superintendent in “Recess: School’s Out.” He also hosted the mystery show “Unsolved Mysteries” from 1987 to 2002. In a 2020 Netflix reboot of the series, a silhouette of Stack in the opening credits pays homage to him.
