The Birthplace Of Nintendo In Kyoto, Japan
With Nintendo’s current status as an innovator in video game technology and products, you’d probably be surprised to see its birthplace look so traditional. See, the company began as a playing card business in Kyoto, Japan, and this is where its founder, Fusajiro Yamauchi, made his colorful crafts in the 1880s.
It wouldn’t be until the ’60s and the ’70s that its new leader Hiroshi Yamauchi would redirect Nintendo’s business from selling cards to video game cartridges. The decades that followed then saw the creation of popular games such as “Donkey Kong,” “Super Mario Brothers,” and “The Legend Of Zelda.”
