An Actor Dies Before He Can Interview the Undead
The 1994 cult classic “Interview with a Vampire” is based on a book of the same name written by Anne Rice. Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, and Christian Slater played iconic roles. But one name on this list would not be there if not for a tragic turn of events.
River Phoenix was initially cast to play the interviewer in the movie, but he died two weeks before filming, and the role went to Slater. In a heartwarming tribute, Slater donated his entire earnings from the film to two of Phoenix’s favorite charities.
