If you’ve seen Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas,” you probably know that Tommy DeVito (portrayed by Joe Pesci) is not the sort of guy you’d want to mess around with. But did you know that one of the best moments in the movie was cooked up on the set by Pesci and his co-star Ray Liotta?
The restaurant scene in which DeVito starts a fight after being innocently called “funny” was set up by Pesci and Liotta without the knowledge of the writers or the director. It’s hard to believe it was semi-improvised, especially since it fits so perfectly with DeVito’s explosive personality.
