On-Set Animosities – Melissa Sue Anderson As Mary Ingalls in Little House on the Prairie

It was one of the best-kept secrets of “Little House on the Prairie.” While the cast was mainly composed by a close-knit group of friends, Melissa Sue Anderson (‘Mary Ingalls’) wasn’t exactly popular amongst her co-stars, and Melissa Gilbert (‘Laura Ingalls’) was particularly critical of the American-Canadian actress.
She let it all out by saying that Anderson was “horrid,” “hateful,” “mean,” and “difficult,” and went as far as saying, “she hated me.” There were some clear on-set animosities between the two Melissas in “Little House on the Prairie,” but they still managed to tone it down whenever the camera was rolling.
