Before becoming one of Hollywood’s best-paid directors, the one-and-only Steven Spielberg was forced to make movies as iconic as “Jaws” on a relatively tight budget. But saving money has its perks, and it helped produce one of the funniest lines of dialogue in the classic 1975 shark flick.
When actor Roy Scheider (‘Brody’) sarcastically says, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat,” he was referencing the fact that the boat used by Spielberg on the set was too small. Inadvertently, Scheider’s passive-aggressive remark ended up fitting quite naturally with his character’s personality.
