Here’s Why Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and 42 Other Celebrities Were Banned From These Countries
Katy Perry – China
“Roar” singer Katy Perry reportedly received an indefinite travel ban from China. Her attire at a concert at Taipei Arena, it seems, is what got her banned. Her look generated controversy because the sunflower was the primary emblem of a 2014 protest against a Chinese trade pact that many thought to be unjust to Taiwan.
Also, Perry reportedly slung a Taiwanese flag over her shoulders at one point during the performance. Although it may not have been her aim, China, which has long-standing tensions with Taiwan over its independence, was outraged by the dress and the flag waving since they perceived it as a politically divisive gesture.
