Remember These Famous Musicians? Here’s What They’ve Been Up To

Loretta Lynn, 89

Country musician Loretta Lynn’s road to stardom in the ’60s was rather smooth, but she proved she was not one to conform to the norms when she wrote songs inspired by her life story as a mother and wife. Her hits like Your Squaw Is on the War Path and Don’t Come Home A- Drinkin’ were particularly championing female empowerment.

Lynn was also highly praised for singing about her background, as evident in her hits Coal Miner’s Daughter and her 1976 autobiography. Because of her contributions to music, she will be awarded at the Academy of Country Music Honors.
