Caetano Veloso, 79
Although Caetano Veloso became a famous singer and songwriter in his home country of Brazil, his musical intelligence paved the way for him to be known worldwide. He was one of the key figures in the South American nation’s Tropicalia movement in the ’60s.
His penchant for music started when he was a child and was inspired by the bossa nova genre, especially by João Gilberto. Veloso, who just turned 79 in August 2021, is also a director who helmed films like O cinema falado and an author who released his memoir Verdade tropical.
