Remember These Famous Musicians? Here’s What They’ve Been Up To

John Cale, 79

During the 2021 Cannes Festival, the Todd Hayes documentary The Velvet Underground premiered, and the story detailed the legendary band’s rise to stardom. Two ambitious men, Lou Reed and John Cale started the group in 1964. The former, who wished to be a rocker, passed away in 2013 due to liver disease, while the latter continues to make a legacy at 79.

These days, Cale hasn’t been as active in the busy scene as before. He did reissue his 1992 album Fragments of A Rainy Season in 2016. The following year, he reflected on the Velvet Underground’s guts during its heyday.
