One of the most fascinating scenes in the movie was the moment Togo dragged Seppala and the dogs to shore while they were on the Norton Sound. It’s a true event and perhaps even more gripping than it was portrayed in the film, as Seppala’s account suggests.
While placing that moment in the middle of the serum relay made for a tantalizing storyline, in reality, it actually happened on one of Seppala’s previous trips. His trip across the Sound during the Great Race of Mercy was fraught with danger as well, and the team really did narrowly escape death’s clutches more than a few times.
