Cherilyn Sarkasian LaPier, simply known as Cher, came to the public consciousness at 16 when she began working with Sonny Bono, with whom she later developed a romantic relationship. The couple tied the knot in 1964, and although they didn’t work out, the stunner’s career continued to flourish when she ventured into acting.
In 1983, Cher received an Oscar nod for her role in Silk, but she finally got the award five years later for her work in the romantic comedy Moonstruck. In 2020, the Mamma Mia! star made the headlines after saving an elephant named Kaavan, dubbed as the world’s loneliest.
