Jim Parsons—1973, Actor and Producer, Cisgender
Many would not easily forget Jim Parsons’ role as Sheldon Cooper in “The Big Bang Theory.” For 12 years, we were held spellbound by Parsons’ wit and charm, while he got rewarded for the portrayal with multiple awards. He’s gone on to other roles, including playing Michael in the 2020 film “The Boys in the Band.”
Parsons came out as gay in a 2012 interview with the New York Times. In 2017, he wedded longtime partner, art director Todd Spiewak. Parsons’ support for the LGBTQ+ community is unmistakable; however, in a 2021 interview with LA Times, he opined gay characters shouldn’t be reserved for gay actors only.
