My Not-So-Happy Place
We all have that annoying family member who gets obsessed with one fad or the other and tries to get everyone else involved. In Gus Hughes’ case, the annoying relative was his aunt. It wasn’t enough that she had become interested in guided meditation. She had to get the rest of the family involved too.
Since there could be no beach meditation without the beach, they had to plan a trip. And when she asked everyone to describe their happy place, Hughes’ dad saltily replied that his happy place would be the trip without the aunt. We can all imagine the awkward silence that followed such a pronouncement.
